=MINIF(range, criteria, [sum_range])

This function calculates the minimum value in a range that meets a given criteria.

Syntax: =MINIF(range, criteria, [sum_range])

Parameters:

  • range – The range of cells that you want evaluate.
  • criteria – The criteria in the form of a number, expression, cell reference, or text that defines which cells will be used to find the minimum value.
  • sum_range (optional) – The cells to sum, if different from the range argument.

How to use MINIF function MS Excel in your workbook:

  1. Open the Excel spreadsheet you want to use the minif function in.
  2. Select a cell where you want the minif function results to appear.
  3. Type “=MINIF(” into the selected cell.
  4. Select the range of cells you want to evaluate.
  5. Type a comma after the range of cells.
  6. Type the criteria you want to use to evaluate the range of cells.
  7. Type a comma after the criteria.
  8. Select the range of cells you want to return the minimum value from.
  9. Type a closing parenthesis “)” after the range of cells.
  10. Press the “Enter” key on your keyboard. The minif function will calculate the minimum value from the range of cells based on the criteria you provided.
